Artist-led project space, Bristol, 2015-2023

Perennial is an occasional artist-led project space in the Christmas Steps Arts Quarter, Bristol, U.K.

Originally based in the damp and creepy basement below our (rented) flat (2015-2017), we took on the use of the ground floor shop space during 2023.

Our intention for the space was to provide a platform for artists we felt deserved more recognition in the city, with an emphasis on DIY practices. The space was entirely self funded and Perennial was (and is) and ongoing experiment in strategies for facilitating other’s practice in ways that are sustainable for us, as two low-income artists.

We will sadly be leaving our space in 2024, but intend to develop a new iteration of the project in the not too distant future.

Artists solo exhibitions in 2023 include: Laura Phillips, Esther Hesketh, Conway & Young, Phil Root and Oliver Sutherland
