Come to Ours, 2011, Plymouth

Come to Ours was a programme of activity and events that celebrated and showcased the work of both emerging and established artists and curators. This artist-driven programme temporarily occupied unusual and unconventional sites, spaces and contexts around Plymouth (UK), running alongside British Art Show 7. The programme included a programme of video works in takeaways across the city, a reference library of independent publications, multi-site performances and exhibitions in empty office spaces. The programme was developed and coordinated by Hannah Jones, Rachel Dobbs, Neil Rose, Mark James, Christopher Green, Bryony Gillard and Beth Emily Richards.

For Come to Ours, Bryony Gillard and Beth Emily Richards curated an exhibition entitled, A Circle, presenting works by five artists who each employ performative methods within their practice. Featuring works by Leah Lovett, Selina Taylor and Ella Golt alongside the artist curating the exhibition, notions of documentation, ephemera, and how to show live work within a gallery context were explored. The work shown took the form of sculptural props, performances to camera, relics of performances, or live works or interventions staged at intervals throughout the exhibition. A Circle investigated how peer groups come into existence, if networks are something that can be manufactured, and whether they can cross geographical boundaries.

A Circle also commissioned a text work to accompany the exhibition, by Ruth Buchanan, produced as a publication which also featured works by the artists and was generously funded by Diversity Art Forum.
